DJ CMAN @ SOUL OF SYDNEY 5TH BIRTHDAY!

14717239_10154611491523607_5395539035481688773_n

So excited and blessed to play at Soul of Sydney’s 5th birthday party. I can’t give enough thanks to the crew who in insuring years have given me so many opportunities and helped me grow immensely as a DJ. I’m so proud and humbled to be apart of such an amazing movement. 5 Years ago at the first SOUL OF SYDNEY party on a rainy afternoon with just a handful of people, something special happened – i remember this day like it was yesterday, a DJ setup run by a generator with a handful of likeminded folks dancing to funk and disco music in the park. Later that day when the rain came it looked like all the fun would end, a decision was made to move the party 50m over into an indoor sandfilled enclosure ……. we partied til late into the night and the rest was history. Friendships were created and a musical culture was born based on the love of feel good music with age, ethnicity aside! Each and every party has been better than the last, and if you were quick enough to snap up some tickets for this party, i can’t wait to join you all on the dancefloor and share some music with you.

A DREAM COME TRUE: DJING AT SOULFEST SYDNEY

What an amazing day Sydney experienced at the first ever #SOULFEST (one of the biggest soul line ups in the world ever (53 Grammy nominations between them). The line-up included: #DANGELO, #MAXWELL,  #MOSDEF, #COMMON, #ALOEBLACC, #ANGIESTONE, #LEELAJAMES, #MUSIQSOULCHILD, & #ANTHONYHAMILTON.

I was completely honoured, humbled (and extremely lucky) to get the call for support DJing duties as #SOULOFSYDNEYDJS with #SOULOFSYDNEY cofounder DJ PHIL TOKE. A day which I will never forget.

Needless to say this was an extra special occasion for me playing between the sets of the acts I grew up listening to, and still admire today. Along with the all-star international line-up were and a gang of Australia’s leading soul talent.

Check out some pics below!
