Music inspired by my Dad… a belated father’s day homeage!

Some easy listening on your commute to work! My Pops introduced me to so much good music when i was just a kid, in nappies – i didn’t even know what I was listening to at the time, but he surely moulded my taste in music. From Lou Rawls, to George Benson, to Nancy Wilson, Mel Torme to Louis Prima, to Sergio Mendes and Gal Costa, Kool and the Gang and Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson to Donny Hathaway to Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell. He even introduced me to Grandmaster Flash and The Furious 5, which we played on repeat.

Dad worked in our family record shop from the time he was 15 til the late 70’s in Pitt St, Sydney. My grandfather worked there too before him. It was initially opened up by my great grandfather in the 1930’s selling piano rolls around the Bondi area.

Whenever I go visit Dad i’m always meddling through his vinyl collection and always find something new. Here’s a few of my favourites we used to listen to back when I was a youngn.

I could keep going with this list, it’s endless.. but these next two… old man had on repeat.. constantly “breezin'” and “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy”
